Bridgeport, CT…The women's volleyball team dropped its third consecutive non-conference match, falling to the University of Bridgeport 0-3 (25-30, 26-30, 27-30). The Lady Deacons record falls to 0-3 on the season, while Bridgeport improved to 2-3 overall.
Leading the way for UB was Sophomore Ivana Kovacevic-Jurasin (Belgrade Serbia). Kovacevic-Jurasin led the Purple Knights with 12 kills, and hit .458 for the match as she had only one error on 24 attempts. Other offensive leaders for UB were junior Brittany Owens (Payson, AZ) who tallied eight kills while Setter Maryanne Stafford directed the Bridgeport offense to the tune of 29 assists.
For BC, #Ursula Pereira# (Belo Horizante, Brazil/Newark East Side) led the offense with 20 kills, and hit .486, committing just three errors on 35 attempts. Defensively freshman #Brittany DeVries# (Islip, NY/Islip) led all players with 12 digs.
The Lady Deacons will look to end their string of bad luck in non-conference play on Saturday September 1st, when they travel to Long Island, NY to take on C.W. Post. Game time is slated for 12:00 PM.
